Blog Post 14: A New OpShop.Kiwi Marketplace Is Coming

A purpose built marketplace for one off finds

Something new is being built for New Zealand’s vintage, antique and second hand community.

OpShop.Kiwi is developing its own purpose built marketplace for professional second hand sellers, vintage stores, antique dealers, charity shops and other trusted vendors selling quality one off pieces.

This will not be another general marketplace attempting to make unique second hand products fit into a system designed for mass produced stock.

The new OpShop.Kiwi marketplace is being built around the way vintage, antique and second hand businesses actually operate.

Built for one off pieces

Vintage, antique and quality second hand goods are different from ordinary retail products.

Every item can have its own history, condition, measurements, materials, features and imperfections. Once it sells, another identical item may never become available.

The new marketplace is being designed to make it easier for vendors to create detailed listings for unique stock while giving customers the information they need to shop with confidence.

Meet Revelist

Revelist will be the official listing app for OpShop.Kiwi.

Photograph. Identify. List. Repeat.

Vendors will be able to take photos of an item and upload them through Revelist. The app will then assist with identifying the item and preparing its product description, category, tags and other important listing details.

The vendor will still review and approve the information before the product goes live, but much of the repetitive listing work will already be underway.

For busy shop owners, staff and volunteers, getting one off products online should become much faster and easier.

Take the photos. Check the information. Add any final details. Job almost done.

Sell online and in store

The new OpShop.Kiwi platform is also being developed for vendors who operate a bricks and mortar store.

An integrated Point of Sale system will allow physical stores to manage in store sales through the same platform used for their online storefront.

The goal is to connect online and in store inventory so that when a one off item sells through one channel, its availability is updated across the marketplace.

Vendors will not need to manage completely separate systems for their shop counter and their online store.

Your own storefront within OpShop.Kiwi

Each approved vendor will have their own storefront within OpShop.Kiwi while also benefiting from being part of a national marketplace dedicated to vintage, antiques and quality pre loved goods.

Customers will be able to discover individual stores, explore their available stock and shop from verified New Zealand businesses and organisations in one place.

OpShop.Kiwi is being built for professional and verified vendors. It will not be another casual person to person selling platform filled with unrelated listings.

No sale, no marketplace fee

There is no compulsory monthly marketplace subscription simply to maintain a standard OpShop.Kiwi vendor storefront.

Marketplace commission applies only when an item sells, allowing vendors to establish and grow their online presence without taking on another fixed monthly platform bill.

Optional setup, listing, training, marketing and ongoing support services will be available for vendors who want additional assistance. These services are optional, and all applicable charges will be fully disclosed before a vendor agrees to use them.

Founding Vendor commission offer

Vendors who sign up by 30 September 2026 and actively participate in beta testing will receive a special Founding Vendor commission rate of 7% until 31 December 2026.

This allows founding vendors to begin using the new marketplace at the lowest commission level currently available while helping us test and improve the platform.

Beta participation may include completing vendor onboarding, adding products, testing marketplace and Point of Sale functions, and providing feedback about the vendor experience.

Full eligibility conditions will be provided before participation in the beta programme is confirmed.

Beta launch August 2026

The beta version of the new OpShop.Kiwi marketplace is scheduled to launch in August 2026.

The beta launch will allow OpShop.Kiwi to begin working with vendors inside the new platform, test Revelist and the marketplace tools in real retail environments, and continue improving the system as it grows.

This is a major step forward in creating a dedicated online home for New Zealand’s vintage, antique, charity and professional second hand retail community.

The new marketplace is on the way.

I want to hear from the stores, dealers and organisations that should be part of it.

No compulsory subscription applies to a standard marketplace storefront. Marketplace commission applies to completed sales. Charges may apply where a vendor elects to purchase optional setup, listing, training, marketing or ongoing support services. All applicable service fees will be disclosed before the vendor accepts the service. Founding Vendor offer eligibility and beta participation conditions apply.
