Known for bringing international design influence to the local market, Fisher was also the New Zealand licensee for Christian Dior, giving El Jay a unique place in this country’s fashion history.

Operating for over 50 years, El Jay became a staple of New Zealand fashion before closing in 1988. Its cultural significance was later recognised in the New Zealand Fashion Museum exhibition “Looking Terrific: The Story of El Jay”, celebrating the label’s lasting impact.
