Blog Post 13: Vendor Fees Updated — Clearer Commission & Flexible Support

A clearer way to sell and grow with OpShop.Kiwi

As OpShop.Kiwi grows, the way we support vendors needs to grow with it.

From 6 June 2026, the OpShop.Kiwi Vendor Agreement and Vendor Fees & Services Schedule were updated to introduce a clearer commission structure and a more flexible approach to optional vendor support.

The aim is simple: vendors should be able to understand what it costs to sell, see how commission can reduce as sales grow, and choose extra support only when it is actually needed.

What has changed?
The previous Tier B and Tier C commission model has been replaced with a standard volume-based commission structure and separate optional service fees.

Commission that reduces as sales grow

There is still no cost to register as an OpShop.Kiwi vendor and no standard fee simply to list your own products.

Commission is charged only when an item sells and is calculated on the item price, excluding the shipping fee charged to the customer.

Monthly Sales Volume Commission
$0.00 to $1,000.00 13%
$1,000.01 to $5,000.00 10%
$5,000.01 and above 7%

Commission rates may be reviewed monthly based on completed sales from the previous calendar month. When a vendor reaches a higher sales threshold, the corresponding lower commission rate may apply in the following month under the Vendor Agreement.

Support is now separate and flexible

Not every vendor needs the same level of help.

Some businesses already have the staff, systems, photography, and product information needed to manage their own store. Others have great stock but need practical help getting it photographed, described, uploaded, marketed, or managed online.

The updated structure separates marketplace commission from optional support services. Vendors can manage their own store independently or choose additional help when it makes sense for their business.

Optional services now include:

  • Assisted and Growth vendor launch packages
  • Listing upload services
  • Full listing creation support
  • Vendor training sessions
  • Featured Vendor and seasonal marketing campaigns
  • Ongoing vendor support subscriptions and monthly listing bundles

The full current pricing is published in the Vendor Fees & Services Schedule so vendors can review the available options before choosing additional support.

Why make the change?

OpShop.Kiwi is being built for a wide range of professional second-hand sellers across New Zealand.

A small vintage dealer managing a carefully curated collection has different needs from a busy charity store, antique dealer, consignment business, or regional organisation handling a large and constantly changing volume of stock.

A single bundled support model does not fit everyone.

Separating commission from optional services makes the structure easier to understand and gives vendors more control over how they use the platform.

The principle behind the update is simple:
Sell independently when that works for you. Add support when you need it. Pay a lower commission rate as sales volume grows.

Updated terms for a growing marketplace

The Vendor Agreement has also been updated so the commission structure, optional service fees, vendor responsibilities, payments, shipping requirements, listing standards, returns, customer data, and other marketplace obligations are set out more clearly.

The Vendor Agreement should be read together with the current Vendor Fees & Services Schedule. The Agreement sets the contractual terms for selling through OpShop.Kiwi, while the Fees & Services Schedule sets out the current standard commission rates and prices for optional vendor support.

As OpShop.Kiwi continues to develop, the goal remains the same: to build a dedicated New Zealand marketplace where professional second-hand, vintage, antique, collectable, charity, recycled, reclaimed, and upcycled sellers can reach more customers online.

Clearer fees and more flexible support are part of building that properly.
