Vendor Agreement Summary

This plain-English summary explains the key parts of the OpShop.Kiwi Vendor Agreement, including who can sell, commission, optional service fees, shipping, listing standards, payments, returns, and where to find current fee information.

This page is designed to help Vendors understand the main commercial and operational terms before applying to sell through OpShop.Kiwi. It should be read together with the full Vendor Agreement and the current Vendor Fees & Services Schedule.

The simple version: OpShop.Kiwi is for approved in-trade Vendors, not casual private sellers. Commission is charged when an item sells, and optional services are available when a Vendor wants extra help with setup, listings, training, marketing, or ongoing support.
Important: The full Vendor Agreement is the legally binding document. This summary is provided to make the key points easier to understand. If there is any difference between this summary and the full Vendor Agreement, the full Vendor Agreement takes precedence.

This summary relates to the OpShop.Kiwi Vendor Agreement Version 1.2, effective 6 June 2026.

Who can sell on OpShop.Kiwi

Approved Vendor types may include:

  • Charity op shops and community stores.
  • Vintage sellers and antique dealers.
  • Professional second-hand retailers.
  • Specialist collectors or approved trade sellers.

Not permitted:

  • Casual private sellers.
  • Consumer-to-Consumer selling.
  • Off-platform sales activity through listings.
  • Unapproved or misleading seller accounts.

By registering, Vendors confirm they are operating in trade and must comply with applicable New Zealand consumer, trading, tax, privacy, and product safety obligations.

Fees and commission

There are no standard registration fees or listing fees for Vendors who manage their own store and listings. Commission is charged when an item sells and applies to the item price only. Shipping fees are excluded from commission.

OpShop.Kiwi uses a standard commission structure based on monthly sales volume. The higher the Vendor’s monthly sales volume, the lower the standard commission percentage.

Monthly Sales Volume Standard Commission What this means
$0.00 – $1,000.00 13% Default rate for new and lower-volume stores.
$1,000.01 – $5,000.00 10% Reduced commission once monthly sales grow.
$5,000.01 and above 7% Lowest standard commission for higher-volume Vendors.

Commission is calculated on the item price only and does not apply to the shipping fee charged to the customer. Refunds, adjustments, special arrangements, or agreed service fees may affect the final payout calculation.

Current fees: Current commission rates, launch packages, listing services, training services, marketing services, and support subscriptions are set out in the Vendor Fees & Services Schedule. Vendors should refer to that page for the most up-to-date fee information.

Optional service fees

Vendors may choose to manage their own store or request additional support. Optional services are charged separately where required, rather than being built into a higher commission rate.

Optional services may include:

  • Store setup and onboarding: Initial store setup, guidance, category setup, and onboarding support.
  • Listing support: Product listing, description writing, image preparation, and upload support.
  • Training support: Practical platform training for Vendors or team members.
  • Marketing support: Featured vendor campaigns, seasonal campaigns, content support, and promotional assistance.
  • Managed support: Ongoing listing assistance, account support, or concierge-style services by agreement.
Note: The previous Tier B and Tier C commission structure has been replaced by optional service-based fees. This keeps commission simple and allows Vendors to choose only the extra support they need.

Shipping and postage

Vendors are responsible for ensuring products can be safely and accurately shipped using the shipping options available through the platform.

  • Vendors must use the approved shipping options available through OpShop.Kiwi.

  • If actual shipping costs exceed the fee collected from the customer, the Vendor is responsible for any shortfall unless otherwise agreed.
  • Shipping fees must be displayed clearly as a separate charge at checkout.
  • Items must be packed safely and dispatched within the timeframe stated or agreed.

Listing standards

Listings must be accurate, honest, and clear enough for customers to make a confident buying decision online.

  • Product photos must show the actual item for sale. Stock images are not permitted unless specifically approved.
  • Condition, defects, measurements, sizing, material, brand, maker marks, era, and relevant item details should be clearly disclosed where known.

  • External links or wording that directs customers off-platform are not allowed.
  • Electrical items must meet applicable New Zealand safety requirements.
  • Restricted, unsafe, counterfeit, stolen, misleading, or prohibited items must not be listed.
Trust matters: OpShop.Kiwi is being built for unique second-hand, vintage, antique, collectible, and higher-value hidden-gem items where good photos, measurements, condition notes, and honest disclosure help customers buy with confidence.

Returns and refunds

Vendors are responsible for customer remedies required under New Zealand consumer law, including where an item is faulty, unsafe, misdescribed, or does not match the listing.

  • Refunds for faulty, unsafe, or misdescribed items may include both the item price and shipping fee.
  • Change-of-mind returns are optional and must be clearly stated by the Vendor if offered.
  • Vendors must respond to customer issues in a fair and timely way.
  • OpShop.Kiwi may assist with communication, dispute handling, refunds, or adjustments where needed.

Payments and payouts

Customer payments are processed through the platform using approved payment methods. Vendor payouts are made after funds are confirmed and any applicable commission, fees, refunds, or adjustments have been accounted for.

  • Vendors are responsible for ensuring their bank and account details are correct.
  • Commission, service fees, refunds, shipping adjustments, or other agreed deductions may be accounted for before payout.
  • OpShop.Kiwi may withhold, reverse, or adjust payments where required to resolve refunds, chargebacks, disputes, fraud concerns, or account issues.
