Questions before you apply
Vendor FAQs
These answers provide a practical overview of selling through OpShop.Kiwi. Current fees, legal terms, marketplace standards and available-feature status remain governed by their dedicated pages.
Eligibility and Store structure
Who can sell?
OSK is for genuine New Zealand businesses, charities, organisations and traders operating in trade. Sellers may be full time, part time, seasonal, low volume or home based. Private and casual sellers simply disposing of personal belongings are not eligible.
Do I need to be GST registered?
No. GST registration is not an OSK eligibility requirement where the law does not require the seller to be registered. What matters is that the Vendor is genuinely operating in trade and can satisfy OSK's verification requirements.
How does OSK verify that I am in trade?
OSK may verify information through business or organisation records and may request reasonable supporting evidence where trading status or identity is unclear. The evidence required will depend on the type and structure of the Vendor.
Can I have more than one Store?
Yes. A Vendor Organisation can manage several approved Stores while each Store keeps its own identity, location, public profile, people and operational settings.
Can a charity have regional and Store managers?
Yes. Scoped roles are designed for organisation-wide, regional or area management and Store-specific access.
Are volunteers allowed to list products?
Yes. Volunteer or staff access can be limited to appropriate listing and draft work, with authorised manager review before publication where required.
Do I keep my own Store identity?
Yes. Each approved Store can retain its own trading identity, public profile, products, people, contact information, opening hours and operational status.
The Guide, eCom and Store presence
Does it cost to claim my Store in The Guide?
OSK intends the core Guide relationship to remain free for eligible verified Stores. Subject to OSK verification, moderation and platform requirements, an eligible Store can claim and manage its standard Guide presence without a subscription fee.
Do I have to sell online to be listed in The Guide?
No. An eligible Store may maintain its Guide presence without opening an online Store. Marketplace selling is available separately for approved Vendors that want to offer products online.
Is there a monthly fee for a standard OSK eCom Store?
No standard monthly storefront subscription is required for an approved Vendor to operate its core OSK eCom Store. Marketplace commission and any optional services selected by the Vendor still apply.
Do I have to use OSK POS, Revelist or advertising?
No. OSK POS, Revelist, advertising, listing assistance, training and managed Vendor support are optional services. They are not required to maintain a standard Guide listing or OSK eCom Store.
Costs, listings and support
What does it cost?
Marketplace commission is based on the current published commission tiers. Optional setup, listing, training, support, POS, Revelist and advertising services are priced separately where selected.
When does commission change?
The applicable marketplace commission tier is determined using the previous calendar month's completed marketplace sales, unless an authorised commercial arrangement applies.
Is commission charged on shipping?
Standard marketplace commission applies to eligible item value rather than the shipping amount. Shipping and other authorised amounts are recorded separately in the order and payout calculation.
Do I need to list all my stock?
No. Stores choose which suitable products they want to offer online, subject to marketplace, safety and category requirements.
Can OSK help with listings?
Yes. Setup, listing creation, training and ongoing Vendor support options are available separately where a Store wants additional assistance.
Can I use Revelist to help create listings?
Approved Vendors may use Revelist by OpShop.Kiwi for AI-assisted identification and listing preparation. Revelist operates using prepaid AI credits under the current offer rather than requiring every Vendor to maintain a recurring subscription.
How many photographs can I add?
A product listing can support up to 30 images, including one primary image and up to 29 additional images where detailed coverage is useful.
What photographs are required?
Use genuine photographs of the actual item and show its condition, labels, flaws, repairs, missing parts and important details clearly. Generic catalogue images must not be used as a substitute for showing the actual second-hand item.
Orders, shipping and payouts
How are payments handled?
Marketplace payments are processed through OSK's supported payment process. A successful payment result is recorded before the order moves into fulfilment.
When are payouts made?
Payout timing, marketplace commission, shipping amounts and any authorised deductions are handled under the current Vendor Agreement and operational payout process.
How does shipping work?
The Store fulfils the order using the supported shipping or collection method. OSK currently supports its NZ Post eShip workflow, with shipment and tracking information retained against the order where available.
Can customers collect?
Collection may be offered where the Store can provide a safe, clear and approved collection process and the option is available for that order.
What happens with returns?
Returns, remedies and refunds depend on the circumstances of the sale. Faulty, unsafe, misdescribed or otherwise non-compliant goods remain subject to applicable New Zealand consumer obligations and the Vendor Agreement.
Can I pause my Store?
Yes. If you are going away, temporarily closed or unable to fulfil online orders, authorised Store users can use the available operational and publication controls to prevent new online sales while the Store is unavailable.
Applications and onboarding
What happens after I apply?
OSK reviews the application, seller eligibility and Store structure. If approved, the Vendor Organisation, Store records and appropriate user access are established for onboarding.
What if my Store is already in The Guide?
Where an existing Guide record belongs to the applying Vendor, OSK can connect the approved Vendor relationship to that Store rather than creating an unnecessary duplicate.
What if my legal name is different from my trading name?
That is normal. OSK can retain the legal organisation or entity information while the public Store continues to use its recognised trading name.
Can I talk to someone before applying?
Yes. A Vendor call is available if you want to discuss your Store, organisation structure, stock, fulfilment needs or which OSK services may be useful before submitting an application.
