OpShop.Kiwi is designed for verified genuine in trade second-hand sellers. Clear marketplace standards reduce low-quality competition, protect responsible Vendors and help buyers know they can trust what they see.
Who can sell
In trade does not have to mean big
OSK is for genuine businesses, charities, organisations and traders operating in trade. Eligible sellers may be full time, part time, home based, seasonal or low volume. What matters is that the seller is genuinely trading rather than simply disposing of personal belongings.

- Multi-store and regional organisations
Private or casual sellers, including people simply selling unwanted household belongings or items from a personal collection, are not eligible to sell through OSK.
Core marketplace standards
Accurate information is part of the product
- Verified genuine in trade sellers rather than casual private accounts
- Genuine photographs of the actual item being sold
- Up to 30 product images where detailed coverage is useful
- Accurate condition, flaw, damage and repair disclosure
- Useful measurements, sizing, weight and parcel information where required
- Controlled brands, makers and category requirements where applicable
- No misleading descriptions, material omissions or disguised faults
- No hidden links or instructions intended to move marketplace sales off OSK
- Products must be legal, safe and appropriate for sale
- New Zealand consumer-law responsibilities remain with the Vendor
Condition and photographs
Show buyers what they are actually purchasing
Photographs should show the actual item being offered for sale, including relevant labels, identifying details, condition, wear, repairs, damage, missing parts and anything else a reasonable buyer would need to assess it. Images must not disguise faults or substitute a generic catalogue image for photographs of the actual second-hand item.
Description and disclosure
Second-hand condition should be described, not guessed
Listings should give buyers a fair understanding of the item's actual condition. Known faults, repairs, alterations, missing components, significant wear and other information that could reasonably affect a purchasing decision should be disclosed rather than left for the buyer to discover after delivery.
Measurements and sizing
A size label is not always enough
Clothing, furniture, collectables and many other categories require useful measurements or dimensions. Category-driven fields help collect the information buyers need, and a zero value must not be used as a substitute where an item should reasonably be measured.
Authenticity and ownership
Vendors must have the right to sell what they list
Vendors must not knowingly list counterfeit, stolen or unlawfully obtained goods. Brand, maker, origin, age and authenticity claims must not be presented as fact where the Vendor does not have a reasonable basis for making that claim.
Safety and prohibited products
Some stock needs additional care or cannot be listed
Second-hand goods still need to meet applicable legal and safety requirements. Some categories require additional checks, restrictions or information before they are suitable for sale.
- Unsafe or recalled products must not be knowingly offered for sale
- Counterfeit and stolen goods are prohibited
- Restricted or unlawful goods cannot be listed
- Electrical and other safety-sensitive products may require additional controls
- Known safety faults must not be concealed from buyers
- OSK may review, refuse, pause or remove listings that create legal, safety or marketplace concerns
Consumer responsibilities
Selling second-hand does not remove consumer obligations
Vendors remain responsible for their obligations as in trade sellers, including accurate representations about products and the consumer protections that apply to eligible transactions. OSK marketplace standards support those responsibilities but do not replace them.

These requirements are designed to support accurate, professional second-hand selling without creating unnecessary paperwork. They help good Vendors stand out while giving buyers greater confidence in the Stores and products they find through OpShop.Kiwi.
