Guide FAQs
Good to know before you go hunting
What is The OpShop Guide?
A national discovery directory by OpShop.Kiwi for op shops and selected second-hand, vintage, antique, preloved, book, collectables and auction/estate stores.
What types of stores are included?
Charity and community op shops, independent second-hand/reuse stores, vintage and antique retailers, preloved/consignment stores, specialist second-hand books and collectables, and suitable auction/estate businesses.
How are stores verified?
OSK reviews business and physical-location information before a location is deliberately published. NZBN information can support business verification but does not automatically publish a shop.
How current are opening hours?
Where hours are confirmed, we show them and can calculate open-now status. If hours are unknown or need rechecking, we show that rather than guessing.
Can I find stores open today or on Sunday?
Yes where a published shop has usable hours. Use Open now for immediate hunting; fuller day/time discovery can expand as more stores are verified.
Can I shop online from a listed store?
Sometimes. If the location also has an OpShop.Kiwi storefront, its Guide profile can link directly to the store and its products.
Can I donate goods through a listed store?
Donation rules differ by organisation and location. The Guide will only show donation information where it has been supplied or verified.
My town or favourite store is missing — what do I do?
The Guide is being built progressively. Missing locations can be suggested and reviewed without allowing unverified information to publish automatically.
I found incorrect information — how do I report it?
A correction/reporting workflow is planned. Until then, contact OpShop.Kiwi with the store name, location and the detail that needs checking.
Is the Guide free to use?
Yes. Browsing The OpShop Guide is free.
Do I need an account to browse?
No. An account is only needed for personal features such as Favourite shops and Want to Visit.
